An event took place on the 25th of
December 2009, and ever since then, a lot of Nigerians have been
treated unfairly at our places of work, we have been asked impolite
questions about our country and what we stand for, some of us are not
even proud to say we are Nigerians anymore and this is all due to the
shameful act of one person - Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab.
It is no longer news that this 23 year old Nigerian whose father,
Alhaji Umaru Mutallab, was the former chairman of the First bank of
Nigeria, attempted to kill hundreds of people on a plane on the 25th of
December. This would have been a very tragic event for the people of
the Detroit City of Michigan, and the world at large.
Yoruba Youth Corporation joins other Nigerian organizations to let the
world know that we are for peace. As faithful and loyal Nigerians, we
are standing up to defend our country and ourselves, we are speaking up
and letting the world know that over 150 million people CANNOT and
REFUSE to be defined by the ignorant act of one person and for this
reason, we are preparing ourselves for the unknown – we are ready to
answer any questions but refuse to be stereotyped, in order for us to
redeem our image. This is also the time for us to stick together and
become one; we need to remember that WE ARE ALL NIGERIANS, regardless
of one’s ethnicity – Hausa, Igbo, Or Yoruba.
THE WORLD SEES ONLY ONE NIGERIA AND THAT IS WHAT WE ARE!
God Bless Nigeria.
God Bless America!
God Bless Yoruba Land.
O’dua a gbe wa o.
